College World Series Bracket
The College World Series schedule is set for 2008, with 17 games of college baseball action. From opening day to the final championship game, teams work their way through the brackets of College World Series double elimination format.
College World Series: Bracket Basics
The NCAA Division 1 Baseball Tournament committee will announce the 64 teams for the 2008 tournament in May.
The 64 teams will include 8 national seeds who are guaranteed to host the super-regional if they win their regional. They will also not meet each other until they get to Omaha.
Teams arrive from the NCAA super-regionals in two 4-team brackets. Those brackets are self-contained until each bracket winner meets in the Championship Series.
Bracket 1 plays both games on Saturday and then again on Monday. Bracket 2 plays both games on Sunday and then again on Tuesday.
The early games on Monday and Tuesday are elimination games. One of the teams will go "2 and out," leaving Omaha without having won a tournament game.
Each ticket is a single game ticket. There are no longer any two game sessions.
Games 13 and 14 are "as needed" games meaning that games will be played only if required. This happens when the loser of either game 11 or 12 was previously undefeated. Since the tournament is double elimination, both teams play again on Saturday. There is the potential for 2 games on Saturday.
College World Series: Championship Games
The College World Series Championship games are a best 2-out-of-3 series between the bracket 2 winners. Games are played at 6:00 p.m. on Monday and Tuesday, and again on Wednesday if required.
