Neil Diamond Tickets

While many fans will always remember Neil Diamond for such classics as "Coming To America," "Cracklin' Rosie" and "Sweet Caroline," the legendary singer's first contribution to modern popular music actually came thanks to The Monkees.

During his early days, Diamond was signed on with Columbia Records and was singing and writing songs. He had written and planned on recording such songs as "I'm A Believer" and "A Little Bit Me, A Little Bit You," but the made-for-TV band released their own versions of the songs and they went on to become huge hits, with "I'm A Believer" being named the most popular song of the year in 1966.

Ultimately, Diamond was able to make it on the charts with his first hit, "Solitary Man," and followed that up with "Cherry, Cherry" and "Kentucky Woman." He opened tours for everybody from Herman's Hermits to The Who and developed into an outstanding performer.

In the 1970's Diamond began to hit the big time and became one of the hottest performers in popular music around the world. He had top-selling albums all across the globe, including his live "Hot August Night" album, which spent an amazing 29 weeks at the top of the Australian album charts.

He hit it big again in 1976 with his classic "You Don't Bring Me Flowers" and a DJ at a radio station in Kentucky created a virtual duet when he combined Diamond's original with a cover version by Barbara Streisand. Diamond and Streisand eventually recorded a real due version, which went on to be a top-selling hit in 1978.

Diamond got his first big movie role in 1980, starring in a remake of the Al Jolson film, "The Jazz Singer." The movie soundtrack was a huge hit, which included "Hello Again," "Coming To America" and "Love On The Rocks."

While his popularity dissipated throughout the 1980's, Diamond and his music have made a comeback and have become popular in a variety of venues. The song "Sweet Caroline" is sung regularly during the eighth inning of Boston Red Sox home games at Fenway Park (even though Diamond readily admits he's a lifelong New York Yankees fan), and he has made numerous appearances in movies.

Diamond is releasing a new album, "Home Before Dark," this spring and will play at the Qwest Center in Omaha on Thursday, July 24. Get your Neil Diamond tickets at Ticket Express – where no event is ever sold out.
