With nine albums and 26 singles reaching the top of the country charts, there is no doubt that Tim McGraw's talent is among the best in country music.
The son of legendary baseball pitcher Tug McGraw, Tim McGraw first came on the scene in the early 1990's when his dad gave a demo tape of his son to a friend who was friends with executives at Curb Records. After hearing the tape, the company signed McGraw and he recorded his first album in 1992.
In 1994, his second album, "Not A Moment Too Soon" was aptly named as it became the best-selling country album of the year. The first single from the album, "Indian Outlaw" generated a tremendous amount of controversy, as critics claimed it patronized Native Americans. Some radio stations would not play the song, but that didn't stop it from becoming his first Top 10 country single, reaching No. 15 on the pop charts.
McGraw got his first No. 1 single with "Don't Take The Girl" and two more singles, "Down On The Farm" and "Refried Dreams" peaked in the Top 5. "Not A Moment Too Soon" went on to sell over 5 million copies, and his follow-up album, "All I Want" continued his run of success.
In 1996, McGraw was touring with a rising country star by the name of Faith Hill. Their "Spontaneous Combustion Tour" produced as many sparks off the stage as it did on stage, as McGraw and Hill became an item and eventually married that fall. Closing in on 12 years of marriage, the couple has three children and both continue recording and touring.
McGraw has had a number of successful efforts in the musical world, and also was a minority owner of the now-defunct Nashville Kats, a team that played in the Arena Football League. He and his wife had the top-grossing tour in the history of country music with their "Soul2Soul II" Tour in 2006, beating out such noted music heavyweights as Madonna and the Rolling Stones.
McGraw is out on his own for his "Live Your Voice" Tour, his first solo concert tour in over three years.
